A Pinterest Christmas: Giant Smores Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

31 Dec

That last post of A Pinterest Christmas is not going to be a craft but a recipe! I thought it was more fitting since it was after Christmas and let’s face it, holidays are all about baking and goodies!

pinterest christmas logo

I found these puppies on Pinterest and thought they looked yummy!

Original Post here.

I don’t have any pictures of baking in progress because this gets MESSY but I did take one of the end product.

These cookies are HUGE.

I doubled my Aunt Barbara’s chocolate chip cookie recipe and it made 6 cookies.

Overall, they were okay. I was surprised that they weren’t crispy or hard and actually were pretty moist considered a shoved a whole smores in there but I was a little sad that I couldn’t taste the smores more.

Will I do them again? Probably not, but that’s okay. I think I prefer smores to be smores and chocolate chip cookies to be chocolate chip cookies.

Be sure to check over all the other ladies for their last Pinterest Christmas post for 2012! It was fun to be a part of this series with them and got a few new ideas for next year!

Weekend Update with Kyler: 48 Weeks

30 Dec

What a week. It was a nice fun filled holiday week for us and a lot of QT with my Bug. Kyler is 48 weeks old this past Thursday which means I am another week closer to her birthday. I made a lot of good strides with the party this week so I am feeling slightly better. Slightly.

I forgot to mention that I received an awesome Christmas gift in a brand new Canon Rebel DSLR Camera! I am determined to learn all the different functions and shoot on manual versus auto. I am already loving it and it takes such nice pictures!

Christmas Eve was spent at home with Kyler. She “helped” me get the house in order. By helping I mean taking everything out of the cabinets and crawling every which way causing me to stop what I was doing and chase after her.

Later that night, my parents came over for dinner and Poppa read Kyler a Christmas book before bed.

Merry Christmas!!

Kyler was 11 months old on Wednesday!

I took off work and stayed home with Kyler. We took a couple of walks; one with her trike and another with her wagon.

Pretty much did the same thing as Thursday!

Apparently she thinks puzzle pieces are like pacifiers. Sigh.

She is looking for something…..

Found it!

Kenley was out for a walk in her wagon so Kyler came out to say hi.

Kenley is too funny.

As soon as Kyler wakes up , she is ready to play!

I had to go to work… so hard to leave this face!

Kyler and Chris headed to Lowes.

And Skyped with Grandpa and Nana. She loves to wave and say hi.

We played, took Christmas down (sad), and ran a few errands.

She loves her baby doll!

After K went down, we started rearranging the office to add a craft area! Still have quite a bit more to do!

Well the holiday week continues. Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, what is everyone’s plans? I will spend my day at the arena. We play the Heat tomorrow but it’s a 5pm game so I will be home early. No big plans for NYE but that’s okay 🙂

I am hoping Tuesday will be a day of organizing and birthday planning!

Have a great New Year’s!

Kyler’s First Christmas

28 Dec

I figured I better get this post out while it was still 2012. Kyler had a wonderful first Christmas and was such a trooper. A lot of people asked me which approach we would be taking…. buying her lots of gifts for just a few things since she really didn’t know what was going on. Of course we opted for lots of gifts because I LOVE Christmas and we need toys to fill that awesome playroom we have! (Well maybe we had enough but it’s an excuse).

On Christmas Eve, my parent’s came over for a casual dinner and to drop off the presents the night before. Poppa read Kyler a couple of Christmas books before bedtime.

We baked up some treats!

Ammo took a snooze

Christmas morning came and Santa was good to us! Kyler’s first Christmas present!

She did pretty good opening up the gifts. She was definitely more interested in the actual gift than the paper though (that’s a good thing!)

A Train!

The dogs got their presents too!

A big bone for Maggie!

Caya stole it.

But they shared ❤

We took the toys upstairs to the playroom and let her loose.

Later that evening, we headed over to Merritt Island to have dinner and a gift exchange at my Aunt Bunny’s house. This is Kyler with her cousin Emma.

IMG_0030 IMG_0033 IMG_0035

After a long and fun day, we headed home and called it a night.

We had a very Merry Christmas and I am pretty certain Kyler had a blast. I have always loved Christmas but it was that much more special with Kyler. I couldn’t have asked for a better day and it was great to be surrounded by family. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and is gearing up for a Happy New Year!

11 Months!

26 Dec

My baby girl is 11 months old. This makes me happy and sad all at the same time. Next monthly update I write will be her One Year Old update. I may just tear up now thinking about it. Well in the spirit of keeping up with Kyler, here is an update from last month:

  • Cruising- Still not walking on her own but she has taken little half steps here and there and will walk only holding onto one hand, the wall, etc. I know for a fact she can walk by herself but this girl hates falling or making a “boo-boo” so she is pretty cautious with herself.
  • Eating- I am happy to announce that I was pretty successful in the progress since last month. We don’t eat any puree’s now and eat all big people things! She has gotten bad about feeding the dogs though :/ When we are looking, she is pretty good about eating but as soon as we turn our backs, she starts feeding the dogs. She knows what she is doing too so she tries to be sneaky about it.
  • Playing-  She has picked up more games where I can tell her memory is really at work. It’s really fun when she prompts you to play something that you played the week prior.
  • Sippy- Need to step up my game here. I know this will come this week, however, because we are going to start slowing weaning her to whole milk this week. (Doing happy dance).
  • BUSY!-  Yep…. she is even into more things than she was last week. Let’s just say we are now going to be installing child proof latches on our cabinets 🙂
  • Night Time– We just started putting a blanket over her the past few nights when it got pretty cold her and she really seems to like it! Maybe, just maybe, it will be calming enough to get rid of the paci’s??? 🙂
  • Laughing– She is laughing all the time! She thinks everything is so funny and will just crack herself up.
  • Dancing– She is a dancing machine! Music comes on and Kyler starts moving!

IMG_0047 IMG_0060 IMG_0059 IMG_0079

She is such a fun and happy little girl! She is just so sweet too. Definitely turning into a little ham, that is for sure! One more month until the big O-N-E!

A Pinterest Christmas: Sock Vase

26 Dec

For week 4 of Pinterest Christmas, I decided to share my sock vase with you!

pinterest christmas logo

The Pinspiration came from this picture right here!

The original post is here. So cute, right?

I headed to the craft store and was able to find everything I needed there!

You need these supplies:

Cylinder Vase

Christmas Sock

Branches (or something of the sort)

Hot Glue Gun and Glue

Styrofoam block

Step One:

Put the sock over the vase

Step Two:

Cut the sock

Step Three:

Cut trim and glue it on!

Step Four:

Put the stryofoam block in the vase then place the branches where you would like.

(I found branches at the craft store that were already red and glittery so I was able to skip a few steps!) Side note: I love the branches in the original post so much better so I will have to be on the hunt for a good deal this year!

Step Five:

Hang ornaments!

That is it! Yes, that simple and yes, that cute!

Make sure to check out the other girls’ creations this week!

Weekend Update with Kyler: 47 Weeks

23 Dec

Christmas is in 2 days! YES! Since I am in the hustle and bustle of getting my house and order and getting Christmas tied up…. this will be mainly photos 🙂

No picture to share 😦

OMG…. Chris and I caught the stomach bug and were down for the count…. It was horrible. We were both sick so Grandma had to come take care of Kyler…. not a fun day.

Kyler was still happy though 🙂

She  loves Daddy!

Playing games (told you she loves her Daddy).

She loves the laundry basket!

Chris and Kyler joined me for lunch 🙂

Because I work with awesome people, I was able to have a date night with Chris and go to the Carrie Underwood show. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE HER so I was very excited. Kyler went over and stayed at my parents house (her first sleep over) so Chris and I had the whole night to enjoy! They also surprised me with a little Meet and Greet! AHHHH!!!

The show was great!!! After seeing her perform, I am now motivated to go work out my legs.

Date night was even better:

Nothing too crazy to report here. We went back to Merritt Island to get Kyler and got part of the house cleaned up. CRAZY…. I know 🙂

Game day for me so here is the picture I get from Chris.

I am THRILLED tomorrow is Christmas Eve! I am going to spend the day prepping the house for Christmas morning and baking cookies and other yummies!. We are doing Christmas at our house this year since this will be Kyler’s first.

Have a very Merry Christmas everyone!

A Pinterest Christmas: Yarn Trees!

19 Dec

Week 3 of A Pinterest Christmas and I am moving onto Yarn Trees!

pinterest christmas logo

Last week was all about ornaments and Scrabble and week one was about quick and easy Christmas crafts! Check it out if you haven’t already!

The Pinspiraiton came from here:

Kendra and I worked on these puppies together. We took a different approach:

Kendra went more streamline and I went all over the place. My way was quicker but I think her way looked good with her color choice.

The finished product!

I love these yarn trees! They are super simple to make and you can make them in any color!

Be sure to check out the rest of the other ladies and their fun Christmas crafts for the week!

Weekend Update with Kyler: 46 Weeks

16 Dec

46 Weeks…am I allowed to have a count down clock already? This week was pretty much like last week: Christmas shopping and birthday planning.

Kyler has a good time playing ball with us now. She thinks it’s hilarious.

She’s a messy eater! She had it in her hair, all over arms and face, and of course thought that was a good time. She did love her pasta though!

Night of filling out Christmas Cards….

xmas card

She’s a goof ball.

Kyler saying hi to me while I worked.

She has been skipping her afternoon naps which turns into passing out before her bottle is ready with the light on.

Reminder: Do not go to the mall around the holidays. Online shopping is much better.

Yes, I braved the crowd and got extremely annoyed. We really didn’t get much and were gone all day. So yes, online shopping only left for me!

Today was a day of cleaning up the house and getting things done! The girls got baths because 1) they needed it…. bad and 2) Ammo is getting groomed tomorrow.

We took an afternoon walk over to the Gilbertson’s to see how their “early Christmas” went over in Sarasota. Kyler and Kenley took a cruise around the block in Kenley’s new wagon. Although their faces may say otherwise, they really did like it.

Chris and I had big plans to make Christmas cookies tonight but I think I may push that off until tomorrow now…. Relaxing on the couch sounds much better 🙂

A Pinterest Christmas: Ornaments and Scrabble

12 Dec

Time for another Pinterest Christmas post! I hope you had a chance to check out last weeks! If not, go back and read the posts and make sure you check out the other ladies’ posts as well!

This is our second week and I will be talking about DIY Ornaments!

pinterest christmas logo

I am always on the look out for Christmas ornaments and I stumbled across a few on Pinterest.

Let’s start with this:

Kendra and I decided to make some ornaments out of Scrabble tiles. We ordered a Super Scrabble of Amazon and it was here 2 days later (thank you Amazon prime). Why order a Super Scrabble? You get 200 letters (double) for the price of 100 replacement tiles. Score!

I had Chris cut the tray to fit Kyler’s name and glued a piece of ribbon on. Tada!

Some other Christmas ornaments.

IMG_0537 IMG_0538

Next up is Kyler’s first hand print!

Yes, I know this is a key…. but this is what I wanted Kyler’s hand print to look like.

We picked up a kit at TJ Maxx and got to work. We were able to get 2 hand prints out of one kit!

Kendra ended up doing the house key since they just moved into a new house and had some left over. We started experimenting and came up with this!

My engagement ring and Chris’ wedding band with our anniversary date <;3

Next up is this guy:

Well this isn’t an ornament but it’s made with Scrabble pieces and since I already spoke of scrabble pieces, I am going to throw it in here.

I picked a fun red paper, spelled out “Merry Christmas” and found a bunch of random green buttons and glued em on the page. How did I come up with so many green buttons you ask? Before Kyler was born, I made a few art pieces with my Cricut and bought a Bag O’ Buttons to use for eyes and such. I had so much left over and it came in handy!

Thanks Kendra for letting me use the frame!

That is it for the week! Make sure to check out the other projects!
