19 Dec

Week 3 of A Pinterest Christmas and I am moving onto Yarn Trees!

Last week was all about ornaments and Scrabble and week one was about quick and easy Christmas crafts! Check it out if you haven’t already!

The Pinspiraiton came from here:

Kendra and I worked on these puppies together. We took a different approach:

Kendra went more streamline and I went all over the place. My way was quicker but I think her way looked good with her color choice.

The finished product!

I love these yarn trees! They are super simple to make and you can make them in any color!

Be sure to check out the rest of the other ladies and their fun Christmas crafts for the week!

Weekend Update with Kyler: 46 Weeks

16 Dec

46 Weeks…am I allowed to have a count down clock already? This week was pretty much like last week: Christmas shopping and birthday planning.

Kyler has a good time playing ball with us now. She thinks it’s hilarious.

She’s a messy eater! She had it in her hair, all over arms and face, and of course thought that was a good time. She did love her pasta though!

Night of filling out Christmas Cards….

She’s a goof ball.

Kyler saying hi to me while I worked.

She has been skipping her afternoon naps which turns into passing out before her bottle is ready with the light on.

Reminder: Do not go to the mall around the holidays. Online shopping is much better.

Yes, I braved the crowd and got extremely annoyed. We really didn’t get much and were gone all day. So yes, online shopping only left for me!

Today was a day of cleaning up the house and getting things done! The girls got baths because 1) they needed it…. bad and 2) Ammo is getting groomed tomorrow.

We took an afternoon walk over to the Gilbertson’s to see how their “early Christmas” went over in Sarasota. Kyler and Kenley took a cruise around the block in Kenley’s new wagon. Although their faces may say otherwise, they really did like it.

Chris and I had big plans to make Christmas cookies tonight but I think I may push that off until tomorrow now…. Relaxing on the couch sounds much better 🙂

A Pinterest Christmas: Ornaments and Scrabble

12 Dec

Time for another Pinterest Christmas post! I hope you had a chance to check out last weeks! If not, go back and read the posts and make sure you check out the other ladies’ posts as well!

This is our second week and I will be talking about DIY Ornaments!

pinterest christmas logo

I am always on the look out for Christmas ornaments and I stumbled across a few on Pinterest.

Let’s start with this:

Kendra and I decided to make some ornaments out of Scrabble tiles. We ordered a Super Scrabble of Amazon and it was here 2 days later (thank you Amazon prime). Why order a Super Scrabble? You get 200 letters (double) for the price of 100 replacement tiles. Score!

I had Chris cut the tray to fit Kyler’s name and glued a piece of ribbon on. Tada!

Some other Christmas ornaments.

Next up is Kyler’s first hand print!

Yes, I know this is a key…. but this is what I wanted Kyler’s hand print to look like.

We picked up a kit at TJ Maxx and got to work. We were able to get 2 hand prints out of one kit!

Kendra ended up doing the house key since they just moved into a new house and had some left over. We started experimenting and came up with this!

My engagement ring and Chris’ wedding band with our anniversary date <;3

Next up is this guy:

Well this isn’t an ornament but it’s made with Scrabble pieces and since I already spoke of scrabble pieces, I am going to throw it in here.

I picked a fun red paper, spelled out “Merry Christmas” and found a bunch of random green buttons and glued em on the page. How did I come up with so many green buttons you ask? Before Kyler was born, I made a few art pieces with my Cricut and bought a Bag O’ Buttons to use for eyes and such. I had so much left over and it came in handy!

Thanks Kendra for letting me use the frame!

That is it for the week! Make sure to check out the other projects!

Weekend Update with Kyler: 45 Weeks

9 Dec

As you can tell by the new layout, I am in the Christmas spirit! Christmas is a little over 2 weeks away and her birthday is 7 weeks away. OMG 7 weeks…. I better get a move on it! I need to seriously order some invites. Yikes!

Anyways, now that I had a minor freak out… back to the weekend update.

Kendra came over and was kind enough to take some family Christmas photos for us. More to come on that. Kyler and Maggie. Kyler has Maggie’s ball thus the face Maggie is giving her.

Kyler got an early Christmas gift that is going to stay at Grandma’s house…. a trike!

Kyler approves.

I posted the first of the series “A Pinterest Christmas”.

We have yet to put away the swing that Kyler hasn’t used in  5 months but she found it to be good to chew on.

Shoes off, play-time!

My little owl ❤

Sweet Frogs with some friends!

Chick-fil-a for lunch. Kyler loves its!

At night, we went over to the Gilbertson’s to have some fun with friends! So nice to have Melissa back in town!

Kyler and Kenley had a slumber party. They thought the laundry basket ride was a good time.

We went out to dinner to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Yummy!

Off to relax before work tomorrow. I need to really start getting serious about my Christmas shopping. I have a lot done but feel like I have a lot more to go! How are you doing on your shopping?

A Pinterest Christmas: Quick and Easy Wreath/Garland

5 Dec

My friend Kendra asked me to do A Pinterest Christmas with her and her cousin. After a week, there was several of us signed up to participate and join in on the Christmas fun. The idea was to find things on Pinterest that you wanted to make for Christmas and blog about them each week. We will all post one blog each week and link each other to all of the other blogs so you can see everyone’s creations!

I thought it sounded like a great idea and good motivation for me to do some Christmas crafts!

This week: Quick and Easy Christmas Crafts!

The pinspiration came from this picture:

Last year, we bought real wreathes and were going to add decor to them. I bought all of the little cheap add-ons from Jo-Ann’s since we would be throwing these away after Christmas. Well we never put them on and when I was looking up ideas on Pinterest, I came across this! I just needed to buy two plain wreathes.

I decided on using items with wire rather than hot glue. I did this so that I can reuse the  wreaths next year and change em up when I want.

I decided on red and silver for my wreathes but it’s totally up to you! You just place the items where you think looks good and tie ’em on!

It is so simple that that is basically it! It took me about 5 minutes and, wala! I had 2 Christmas wreaths. This is not the most riveting craft project I have ever done but it was quick and easy with a 10 month old crawling around and “helping”.

Finished product:

Next project (I am throwing in a bonus since the wreath was so ridiculously simple to make) is a Merry Christmas garland Cricut style.

A spin-off of A Pinterest Christmas if you will.

A Cricut Christmas.

I found this on Pinterest and saw something similar at Target and thought, I could make that with my Cricut! (The original link to the picture is broken, boo 😦 )

What is a Cricut you ask? It’s an electronic die-cutting machine and it’s freaking awesome.

You buy cartridges that have so many pre-loaded images or fonts on them and can make them any size you would like on any paper you would like.

After you cut them out, you glue all the layers together! Attach them to some string or yarn in my case and you have yourself a Merry Christmas Garland!

I made this last year:

Well that is it! Hope you can find some quick and easy crafts to do this holiday season!

Don’t forget to check out these super talented girls and what they made this week for A Pinterest Christmas!

Weekend Update with Kyler: 44 Weeks

2 Dec

Happy December everybody!

We had a good and busy week. I was pretty busy at work this week and we have been on the go all weekend! It really has been the best weekend. I work a lot of hours with my job especially in-season so when I have a whole weekend off, I cherish all the time I get with Chris and Kyler.

Speaking of on the go…. that is what Kyler has been up to. She is SO close to taking her first steps. I know it! Every day she gets more and more brave and you can tell she just wants to walk. She is letting go more often and wants to hold our hands and walk rather than be carried. I wouldn’t be surprised if her first step is the topic of the next Weekend Update or two.

Kyler turned 10 months old on Monday! Oh my, 2 more months!

Kyler playing at Grandma’s house… with what… I have no idea.

Chris and I cooked a yummy dinner and watched a movie after Kyler went to sleep. This is how we watch our movies now a days. Not much opportunity to get out to the theater but that is okay! I prefer sweats and my couch over a movie chair!

We went over to hang with The Gilbertson’s. Kendra was helping Kyler push around the laundry basket.

Kenley and I watched 🙂

Friends ❤

I had a game Friday night so Kyler had some Dad time!

We went to the mall Saturday morning to do some shopping and get pictures with Santa. Kyler did well walking the fence in line.

The Santa meeting did not go well. We waited in line for 2 hours (crazy), it was lunch time, nap time and Kyler fell down and bumped her face (and since she was tired and hungry- it was the end of the world). I got her to calm down and it was our turn about 10 minutes later. I handed her off to Santa and Oh. Dear. God. She FLIPPED. I was called over and sat down and grabbed her. She was still freaking out but somehow the kid wranglers had her focused and ready to go. Santa was great too! True professionals. I was so shocked that we actually got some good shots!

After Santa, we went to the food court and ordered Kyler’s first menu item! Cheese quesadilla from Chiptole! Kyler approved.

We stopped into Build-A-Bear and built Kyler Rudolph and Clarisse. She is obsessed with them, especially Clarisse.

My big girl wants to walk so badly.

Today we took Bug to the zoo for the first time. The Brevard Zoo is such a nice and clean zoo!

Feeding the deer.

Looking at the Jaguars!

I want to walk Dad!

Lunch time!

Sleepy Rhinos.

Kyler fell asleep before we got to the Giraffes. Next time!

Just chillin’

We got back to Orlando and ran some errands. After dinner, we went down to the Gilbertson’s to play. So nice having them 5 doors down!

Just snacking on a cracker.

Hey, this is fun!

Uh oh! The box broke and down went the girls. Thankfully is broke somewhat slowly so the girls didn’t bonk their heads but Kyler was tired so it was a big deal. Didn’t even phase Kenley!

Well I am off to watch a Christmas movie. We are thinking Elf. This week I am starting something called “A Pinterest Christmas” with a bunch of other girls and I can’t wait to share what we came up with! Details to come 🙂

Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?
