Hudson: 35 Weeks/Eight Months

30 Nov

Hudson turned 35 weeks/8 months yesterday! He is still happy as can be. Yesterday, he took a few “crawls” and is starting to get his coordination between his legs and his arms. Fun times ahead!!!

We are starting to introduce more and more finger foods. Today, he had scrambled egg yolks and did okay with that. He didn’t mind the taste but he is still figuring out the textures. He loves yogurt melts and Happy Baby Rice Cakes. He has slowed down on his milk intake which is fine by me!

He is so much fun now! I think he will get into a lot when he is really up and moving. He has been scooting over to me and pulling himself up on my fingers for a couple weeks now. He loves to watch crazy Kyler scream and run around the house. Only a matter of time before he joins her! We are spending more time on the floor now and less time in the bouncer so I think we will be retiring that soon. He just wanted to be on his belly all day (to practice his crawling). He is really starting to love bath time now. He likes to splash around and chew on the toys.

He was a sick little guy this past month. He had RSV and then about 2 weeks later caught a nasty cold. Here is to a healthy month! Happy 8 months sweet boy!

Hudson: Seven Months

29 Oct

Hudson turned 7 months old today!!

This kid is just so much fun. He is honestly one of the sweetest and happiest little guys I have ever met and I am not saying that because he is mine. He is happy go lucky and is content just playing with toys and smiling at people. Speaking of his toys, he is getting more and more active. He loves his toys now and his favorite is the Vtech Learn and Discover Driver. He also loves anything with sound and lights so we have plenty to keep him busy.

He is OBSESSED with jumping in the bouncer now too. He just sits there, laughs and just jumps away. Great for when we are getting dinner ready.

He is still a big and healthy boy! He is wearing mainly 12-18 month shirts and still in the 6-12 or 12 month pants. His feet are just silly big and is just about outgrown most of his 4 shoes and starting to wear some 5s. We threw through the size 3 diaper stage and had to move into 4s. The kid was having blowouts and coming home with new clothes every day thus the new size.

We dropped a bottle, however, we upped the ounces in the others so he is getting about the same. He definitely loves his solids so I think as he gets older he will start to cut more and more milk out. He is an early bird though. He wakes me up at 5am to eat so I am going to see if I can start pushing him back a half hour just to give me a break. At 6 months we started giving him 3 meals a day and he is doing great. For breakfast, it always consists of a fruit and grain and then gets his veggies for lunch and dinner. He is eating chicken and turkey but he isn’t the biggest fan. Now that he is eating so much, I am trying to make more food to save on some money. He is getting much better at puffs and the texture so I think we will try small cut up bananas with cheerio dust soon. I think he will love it!

He is getting SO close tor crawling. I think within the next couple of weeks he will get it. He is always practicing and you can tell he just wants to go. I can’t believe we will have a crawling baby again!

He is starting to babble more and more. He loves the D sounds so we constantly hear dada but that is about it. He still has that nice high pitch scream to him but it’s mainly when he is happy. He is laughing a lot more now, especially when we make funny sounds or tickle him.

Hudson, you are quite the charmer! Happy 7 months cutie!

Hudson: Six Months

29 Sep

Wow. 6 Months already. I swear I just wrote his 5 month update like 4 days ago. These past 6 months have gone by much faster than my first 6 months with Kyler. While he is so much fun now, I am a bit sad that his sweet snuggly newborn days are long over.

Hudson loves his food. So much so that we added lunch to his day starting today. We had our check-up with the doctor and she said go for it. If he wants to eat more, give him more food. Chris and I joke (half-serious) that this boy is going to eat us out of house and home when he is older. He loves his fruits but tolerates the veggies. He really isn’t a fan of the green ones but oh well, gotta eat em! I do need to get better at making food myself, but, I am not going to stress about it. If I have time, great, if not, oh well. He is still drinking 5 times a day, however, we may adjust him to 4 depending on how he does with 3 meals a day. I would say he is getting about 28-30 ounces a day currently.

He is sleeping much better than the last update, however, he still wakes up about 1-3 times a night. Nothing bag, just wants his paci put back in. He is getting better reaching for it himself so hopefully this will get even better in the next few weeks. He is definitely not the sound sleeper his big sis is. He wakes up easily and is harder to get down for naps.

He is sitting up so well by himself now. He still topples over but I know that will change in the next couple of weeks. He is pushing up to his knees now so I have a feeling the rocking (and then the crawling) will be next! He has recently discovered that his jumper actually jumps so he is having a great time doing that.

He smiles all. the. time. I mean it. The kid will smile at anyone or anything. So happy go lucky. He is so photogenic too! A camera comes out and he is all smiles.

Hudson: Five Months

30 Aug

Huddy boy turned 5 months old yesterday. Here is what he was up to last month.

The biggest update from last month is that we have started solids. Based on our experience with Kyler (which was horrible), we were really dreading it. I was going to push until later but he was hungry. We bumped up  his bottles to 6 oz bottles and started solids. He loves it. We are already at 2 meals a day and I imagine that by 6 months we will be at 3. So far, he has had: apples, bananas, oatmeal, rice cereal, peaches, green beans, butternut squash, carrots, pears and sweet potatoes. He actually had quinoa today mixed in with his pears and loved it. I think we will try avocado today or tomorrow as well.

He has also started rolling over. He rolls from back to front but not too much the other way. That means he sleeps on his belly now. Crazy!

He is not sleeping so well. I don’t feed him in the middle of the night anymore and he isn’t too happy about it. He pops up quite a bit (stupid paci) but usually goes right back to sleep once he has the paci. However, he wakes up at like 4:30 freaking out looking to eat. I will not feed him before 5am so that is fun. The past few nights he has been going until 6am so I praying this is a trend.  If not, then we will have to let him cry it out sooner than later. I also think he has to get used to rolling over because now that he can, he is all over the crib.

He wears 9 month clothes and 6-12 month (Old Navy) clothes. I think I will was some of his 12 month clothes soon as we are getting close to that in the Carters brand. He is also wearing size 3 diapers. He has out grown his sun hat (again) so I need to get another one. He has a huge head!

He is such a happy and sweet little guy. He is pretty easy going unless he is tired or hungry. Other than that, he just goes with the flow. Happy 5 months!

Hudson: Four Months

29 Jul

Big Man is 4 months today!! See what he was up to last month.

About a week and half ago he had his 4 month check-up and everything went great. We talked about stopping swaddling (which we did) and that I could stop feeding him in the middle of the night. He is still waking up in the middle of the night but he has been making it longer and longer so hopefully that is a sign. Poor guy got his 4 month shots but he handled it like a champ.

Stats:

Height: Just shy of 28 inches (guessing he is 28 now) putting him at 99%+ (he is way off)
Weight: 17 pounds, 14 ounces (again, guessing he is at least 18 now) putting him at 95%
Head: 17.13 inches putting him at 97%

He still hasn’t rolled over (and honestly doesn’t even seem that interested) but he picks his chest and head up really well. He tends to move his upper body side to side rather than roll (almost like he is going to get up and crawl). I am sure the rolling over will come. He had pretty good head control, however, he still has the occasional head bob. He loves to stand up. He has been having a good time in the exersaucer and jumperoo. He has started grabbing his toys and loves his snuggies. He loves to grab them and bring them up to his mouth. He drools must more than K did but not sure what that will mean. He is just a happy and content little guy for the most part. He LOVES to track you across the room. I feel like anywhere I go he is watching like a hawk. I have noticed him trying to watch some TV lately too when it’s on for Kyler so I need to start getting him on the floor or busting out some new toys to stop him from doing that.

I still have no plans to start food yet. I honestly think we will wait closer to 5-6 months but we will see how this next month goes. He seems fine without it, although, he has been watching us eat lately. K did too and she hated ALL foods until she was 7.5 months old. So no rush here 🙂

I think we will be retiring out infant car seat in the next month or so. We already have a convertible so not really a biggie. It’s just kind of crazy how quickly he is growing out of it. I only have 2 more inches to go! Plus, carrying him in the infant seat is killing me. He is just too big. I think this weekend we are going to try him out in the big seat of the stroller. He is certainly big enough to go in it, I just don’t know if he is strong enough. It does recline so that should help.

He is pretty much rocking the 6-12 month size right now. Because of that, I only buy 12 month things now. What size is this kid going to be in when he is One? Crazy to think about. We are still shoeless mainly because his feet are too skinny for how long they are. He is probably a size 3 right now.

As I have said before, he is such a happy and easy going boy. He really loves Kyler and loves to watch her. He is very observant in general. It’s so fun to see his little personality develop. Happy 4 months Huddy Boy!

Hudson: Three Months

29 Jun

This wide eyed happy boy is 3 months old today if you can believe it!!! Here is what he was up to last month.

He is such a sweet and happy little guy. He is all smiles after a good night’s sleep or a good nap. He goes to bed around 7:30-8pm (swaddled of course) and depending on how sleepy he is… sometimes with the paci and sometimes without. He has been waking up twice a night for the last week but I am hoping that will stop. I rarely have to give him the paci after he eats (we will see what happens when I stop feeding him in the middle of the night). He is still all over the place in terms of what time he wakes up to eat. Sometimes 12:30, sometimes 2:30, sometimes he goes all the way until 4:30-5… he is really unpredictable. As for naps, he still isn’t on a great schedule yet. He has been at daycare for a couple weeks but I am sure they will get him on one.

He is doing so great with his head and neck control. He loves to sit up and look around. Recently, he has been using the Bumbo at school. Kyler was never a fan but he doesn’t seem to like it. Only problem is his little chunk chunk legs already have to squeeze in there so I don’t think we will be able to use it long.

Speaking of chunk…. homeboy is probably around the 17 1/2lb mark. I have no clue how long he is. We were supposed to go to the kidney doctor next week but it was pushed back.

Yes, a kidney doctor. During an ultrasound I had at 32 weeks preggo, they noticed dilation with his kidneys. They have checked 2 more times since he has been born (2 days old and 5 weeks old) and it is still there. They call it Hydronephrosis. It simply means that the inside of the kidneys are dilated and have fluid sitting in them. He has a mild case of it and we still don’t really know what it all means. After his 5 weeks ultrasound, we saw a specialist and he wanted to repeat the ultrasound when he is a few weeks older. Apparently babies can outgrow it or it can get better over time. As of now, we don’t know why they are dilated, ie is it reflux where the urine goes back from the bladder to the kidney, is it a blockage in the tube, or was it something that was blocked in utero and it corrected itself but the inside never went down. Regardless, the specialist didn’t seem all too concerned with it because his kidney function is great, anatomy is great and the ultrasound only shows a mild dilation.

He has been “talking” the last week or two. It’s mainly coos and ahhss and it’s pretty freaking adorable. He love when people look at him and smile. He usually flashes a smile back with some sort of sound. He started drooling the last couple of days too. I know he is still super young but he doesn’t seem like a sleepy little newborn to me anymore! Maybe because he isn’t so little and he is super alert but I am soaking up the snuggly part. My favorite thing about a baby!

Happy 3 months little dude!

Hudson: Two Months

29 May

These past 2 months have been a blur! Here is what he was up to at One Month. I know, wasn’t a lot but he was only one month 🙂

We hit up the doctor last week for his 2 month check-up. All is well and we basically found out he is huge. Yep, I already knew that but his numbers solidified that. Hudson was 14 pounds and 8 ounces at 7 weeks so I am sure he is at least 15 pounds now. He is also 25.5 inches tall. His weight and head were in the 97% percentiles while his length is way off the charts. The nurse asked if we started solids yet then stopped herself once she realized he was 7 weeks old. The doctor was laughing the whole time and said she can’t wait to see how big he turns out to be. We will all have to wait and see!

***Update***

Weighed him on the 30th and he weighed 15 pounds, 9 ounces!!

We are wearing our 3-6 & 6 month clothes. I have been buying 6-9 & 9 months clothes now since they say they start at 15-16 pounds (and he is right there). He is wearing a size 2 diaper and if I put him in shoes, his toes hit the top of his size ones (the kid has monkey feet).

He is an okay napper and a pretty good sleeper. He seems to take more cat naps to me and startles very easy. The swing has become our friend and that seems to be the best place he can catch a nap without waking up every so often. He started sleeping in his crib at 5 weeks and loves is. He typically goes to bed between 7:30pm-8:30pm. We swaddle him up and put him to bed awake. It seems a bit early but that is what he likes! He will get fussy at the end of the day and you can tell when he wants to be swaddled and left alone so we just go with it. He will then sleep until 2-3am and wake up to eat. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, he will sleep until 7am before waking back up to eat.

We went through a rough fussy patch around 5-6 weeks but we have seemed to move out of that. I can tell he gets bored sometimes which will cause him to get a little fussy but some TLC usually does the trick! He has become a big fan of the paci and being swaddled. He seems to startle easy so his arms keep him up a bit 🙂

Happy two months beastie boy!!
